Three-day International Film Convention organized by Public Institution RERA SD for Coordination and Development of Split-Dalmatia County was held in Split and on Klis from September 28-30, 2016, with the goal of promoting the role of creative industries, primarily movie industry, in development and promotion of sustainable tourism as the driver of economic growth.

International Film Convention was held as part of AdriaWealth project (IPA Adriatic Cross Border Cooperation), which capitalizes results of previously realized projects in the Adriatic-Ionian region, aiming to encourage professionals in the segment of tourism and film industry to design future projects in Croatia, which will include localities renovated in the scope of Medpaths project and make Dalmatian hinterlands part of top tourist offer, also increasing its distinctiveness. AdriaWealth project started in May, and it lasts until the end of November, gathering partners from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

„Objective of AdriaWealth project is to create a series of public-private networks for implementing results in the sector of sustainable tourism, contribute to diversifying tourist offer in the Adriatic-Ionian region, starting with previous positive experiences in the sector. AdriaWealth project transfers knowledge and promotes sharing best practices, which is why I am convinced that it can significantly contribute to creating new, innovative and attractive tourist products“, stated Jozo Sarač, Director, JU RERA SD.

One of the main goals of the International Film Convention is founding the Film Commission in Split. Film Commissions already operate under Development agencies in Slovenia, Italy, Istria and Zadar, which is also the incentive for RERA SD to open the Film Commission in Split.

First day of the conference included presentation of AdriaWealth project, panel discussions about founding the Film Commission and cooperation between young filmmakers. The evening was reserved for premiere of a short 15-minute movie about the beauties of Dalmatian hinterlands „The salt of the heart“ by Vladimir Kanić, as well as movies created in the scope of the first Kino Kabaret Adriatic in Croatia, held in Split from September 18-21, 2016.

Two educational tours were organized for about a hundred representatives of tourist agencies, tourist guides, tourist boards and other professionals in tourism. The first tour covering Sinj and Vrlika was held on Thursday, September 29, while the second one was held on Friday, September 30, introducing the participants with Klis and Trilj.
