ADRIATinn aims to increase the competiveness of the Adriatic area SMEs (i.e. help them maintain the market share they currently have) and their extroversion capability (i.e. extent their business and penetrate to new markets) through a cross border ecosystem that fosters ICT adoption, innovation and specialization, incorporating solutions proposed by specialized R&D institutes, which, in their turn, will be adopted as guidelines by the public authorities (i.e. regional governments) of the area. Focus is provided on the energy and bio-economy sectors and new cross-sectorial themes (focusing on well-being sector combining food industry, tourism and health/sports).
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
The general objective of the strategic project ADRIATinn was to boost research and innovation capacities as well as fostering innovation in SMEs through joint activities or networks aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Adriatic area by building a sustainable, cross-border ecosystem for SMEs related to bio-economy and energy.
Main project achievements:
– Foster cooperation/dialogue between key stakeholders and policymakers to increase territorial endogenous capacityin RDI, through capitalization of current RDI promoting policies and elaboration on recommendations through dedicated workshops.
– Create mechanisms (like collaborative workplaces, helpdesks, collaborations between RDI and SME actors and mentoring services) oriented to SMEs to support their RDI capacity to improve their competitiveness alsodeveloping high added quality innovative products.
– Stimulate the emerging of innovative economic sectors/branches combining technology innovation and social aspects (such as creative industries, creative thinking, commercialization of knowledge, etc.), through dedicated helpdesks and Organization of innovation weekends.
Which are the project main results/impacts?
Recommendations/ guidelines that will hopefully be transformed in long terms commitments (Protocols) were released at the end of the project between national/regional/local/ key experienced stakeholders and policymakers.
Collaborative workplaces (co-labs) were addressed to individuals (freelancers or potential entrepreneurs), SMEs, startups, etc. They enabled all these actors exchange knowledge, connect and network, while the events organized in these workplaces address identified market and societal needs through R&D.
In the helpdesks (one in each country) issues like Pre-seed Funding opportunities and Resources to support new business were addressed. Mentors worked with SMEs on a one-to-one basis and provided support in strategy, finance, people. Mentors provided advice, expertise, experience and knowledge, thus enabling SMEs figure out how to create sustainable growth and competitive advantages for the company even on an international scale.
ADRIATinn project organized a series of ADRIATinn Innovation Weekends (ADRInno) wich aimed to improve the cooperation among research institutes and SMEs.
