Travellers are often discouraged to use means of transport other than cars, due to the lack of services, infrastructures, and suitable connections. In the Adriatic area, sea transport could play a crucial role, but it is not sufficiently organized and exploited yet. ADRIMOB project aimed at supporting and boosting passengers sea transport between and along the Adriatic coasts, strengthening and integrating existing infrastructure networks in order to create the necessary connections for a multimode use of transport means in the territories, leaving cars aside.
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
The definition of an Adriatic cross-border strategy of sustainable transport (of people) between the two Adriatic coasts and along the coast, improving sea transport, in combination with other means of transport such as train, bus, bicycle, etc.
The completion and the creation of a network of multimode cross-border circuits (by means of pilot coordinated actions) in order to increase the use of means of transport other than cars and improve the quality of the transport offer within the Adriatic area.
Marketing actions for multimode circuits.
Which are the Project Main Results/Impact?
Result/Impact 1: STRATEGY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTIMODAL MOBILITY IN THE ADRIATIC AREA
The strategy is aimed at designing a strategy for the implementation of the sustainable multimodal mobility for passengers whose “backbone” is represented by the presence of the Adriatic Sea and the related maritime connections. It takes into consideration several issues which are relevant to EA SEA-WAY, namely: New shipping lines entering; ICT development; Investments in transport infrastructure; Communication strategies; Small scale tourist infrastructure development; Environment protection actions.
Result/Impact 2: CROSS-BORDER INTERVENTION PLAN FOR NORTH AREA
It focuses on the following main issues: a) strengthening of maritime connections: Connections with fast hydrofoils or catamarans in the Adriatic and Cabotage connections; The Cruises; Annual connections Ro-Pax; Yachting; Port infrastructures and ground services; b) strengthening of inland ports connections: Road; Cycling mobility; Trains and busses; Aircraft connections; Integrated promotion actions.
Result/Impact 3: CROSS-BORDER INTERVENTION PLAN FOR CENTER&SOUTH AREAS
It focuses on the following main issues: Maritime safety across borders; Adriatic Sea Plan; Adriatic Traveler Information System; Common shared cycling utilities; destination management; quality management; Bottleneck exercise; Motorways of the Sea; Medjugorje Pilgrimage; ICT enhancement; Action Plans by Partners
Results/Impact 4: PILOT PROJECTS
Requalification of passenger’s terminals; improvement of ground link’s services; Innovative technologies and specific feasibility studies. These pilot interventions were realised by each partner and can serve as best practices for the implementation of the pilot actions planned within EA SEA-WAY .
