Project Description
Description
Project description
“The Adriatic Port Community” project provided for the establishment of an Information Management System – the Global Single Window – among the port authorities of Venice (IT), Ploce (HR) and Igoumenitsa (GR) open to future implementations in order to extend the Adriatic Port Community. The improvements in procedures arisen thanks to an e-platform result in a significant increase in port efficiency and competitiveness and in several positive outcomes and spillover effects that are not always directly measurable. Still the direct and quantifiable benefits show the high feasibility and economic effectiveness of the project.
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
>An Information Management System – the Global Single Window – was established, and it still open to future implementation in order to extend the Adriatic Port Community. Afterwards each project partner improved and/or produced its own system able to dialogue with the Global Single Window.
Which are the Project Main Results/Impact?
Results/Impact 1
A new ITS prototype has been developed by Venice Port Authority. This can act as useful tool for decision makers involved in port management.
Results/Impact 2
A modular system with applications available through web service has been developed by Igoumenitsa Port Authority.
Results/Impact 3
A web-based application which allows relevant stakeholders to access all relevant information safely has been developed by Port of Ploce.
Results/Impact 4
An analysis of economic efficiency of the main project results has been performed. Benefits relating to land agents savings time, ship man savings time, saving fuel for waiting trucks, saving ships time and consumption have been measured analytically: the positive impact was estimated at nearly one million Euros only for the first year of functioning, out of a total investment of about three millions, including the EU contribution and the costs incurred directly by the partners.
