Project description
The project Archeo.S – System of the Archaeological Sites of the Adriatic Sea, experimented a new model to enhance cultural heritage sites by producing studies and researches and organizing shows, events, conferences, and workshops of dance, music and theatre so as to favor a more sustainable development. The specific objectives of the project were linked to the experimentation of an innovative method through the establishment of a “system” capable of setting up and networking functional relations between cultural heritage and cultural operators, thus allowing to develop and pursue a long-term strategy meant to hold project’s results steady in the community. The specific objectives were: a) testing an innovative method to enhance cultural heritage sites as attractive tourist destinations in a view to strengthening sustainable development; b) organization of a cooperative “system” across the cultural heritage sites involved to put in place and implement a long-term strategy by subscribing to a Memorandum of Understanding; c) increasing the number and the quality of long-lasting opportunities of cooperation in the field of live arts in the Adriatic area.
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
The project objectives have been pursued by means of the following actions:
– creation of a Network of Cultural Heritage Sites;
– working out of a Governance Plan for Cultural Heritage Sites;
– organization of art workshops, vocational training courses, master classes;
– realization of theatrical productions;

The Network allowed the transfer of skills and know-how of each partner country, the development of partnerships at public, private, local and cross-national levels as well as the practical testing of new methodological approaches in the governance of cultural heritage sites. In particular, the Network was intended to: a) promote, improve and deploy the potential of the cultural heritage sites; b) improve accessibility to the sites in question; c) expand the range of services and cultural activities provided by the sites.
