The FUTURE MEDICINE Project aims mainly at: a) creating excellence centers both for couple infertility diagnosis and treatment and for regenerative medicine; b) establishing a clinical and scientific network for the study and treatment of couple infertility-related diseases; c) devising joint behavioral protocols in the diagnosis and treatment of infertile couples; d) setting up a scientific and training network with a view to opening various 1st Level Regenerative Medicine Centers.
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
The FUTURE MEDICINE project represents a first model of integrated center for the first level regenerative medicine. The key goals pursued by the partnership have been: a) identification and implementation of Centers of Excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of couples infertility; b) creation of a network for clinical and scientific study and treatment of pathologies related to infertility of the couple.
In order to achieve the project objectives, training activities and seminars have been held in partner countries. In particular, teams of doctors specialized in medically assisted reproduction (MAR) organized dedicated clinical meetings and training sessions. Lecture subjects included the acknowledgement by health operators that the FUTURE MEDICINE project represents a model of integrated approach for implementing international excellence regenerative medicine, together with dissemination and implementation of first level units in lacking countries.
Spillover effects on the areas of interest have been of great value. Moreover, the TSC of the Lead partner has produced a Comparative analysis of laws in the field of Assisted Procreation and Regenerative Medicine with (adult) somatic cells in the EU member countries with the support of partners. The Analysis has highlighted criticalities and has drawn a legislative road map toward accession to the EU of third countries participating in the project through a technical evaluation of the research activities on legal and health matters.
Which are the project main results/impacts?
Establishment of First Level Stem Cells Laboratories/ Establishment of a scientific and training network in order to set up 1st Regenerative Medicine Centers.
Organizing training seminars within the project focusing on cell therapies and regenerative medicine/ Raising the awareness of lawmakers in third countries with regard to the innovative medical techniques in view of their future accession to the EU.
Clinical training meetings intended for the scientific project partners with a view to training the centres’ staff on regenerative medicine and cell therapies-related techniques/ Valorization of human resources and upskilling to provide continuous quality health services.
Establishment of Excellence Centres of Medically Assisted Reproduction/The formulation of joint behavioural protocols in the field of infertile couples’ diagnosis and treatment.
Clinical training meetings intended for the scientific project partners with a view to training the staff on Medically Assisted Reproduction techniques/Establishment of an international and cross border clinical and scientific network for the study and treatment of couples’ infertility-related diseases.
