The main objective of GRCOPQ-SEWAM project was to contribute to the improvement of the welfare state in the Adriatic, in the Balkans, as an area that has suffered a lot in the past and still suffers because of social exclusion of women. This goal was achieved through concrete actions, which contributed to the women social cohesion in Albania and Montenegro, by using two work methodologies. The first one was based on creating professional training employment of the Albanian and Montenegrin women, in Durres (Albania) and Ulcinj (Montenegro). On the other side the project intended to help these women, increasing their knowledge with regards to their role and status within the society, gender balances, equal opportunities, constitutional rights, reproductive rights, civil, social and other fundamental rights for women in Albania and Montenegro.
What has been done during the project in order to achieve its main goal(s)?
The main project activities were:
Design and organization of the Professional training programme for vulnerable and disadvantaged women.
Creation of two Info Points in the two centres in Albania and Montenegro.
Training for the Info Point
Selection and identification of experts in order to provide the following services and information:
Law in force and rights for abused women,
Psychological support for abused women
Local Analyses of the Labour Market and job opportunities scouting
Workers’ rights according National law Services
Health and social assistance provided by the national health system
Business creation and start-up training programme
Info point sessions.
Which are the project main results/impacts?
The project trained through various vocational training courses, seminars info point, and other activities 1048 persons in Albania and 347 persons in Montenegro. The project provided two great examples of social initiatives in two districts of the Balkan, working with the same methodology.
5 % of women were employed and have created and own a social enterprise
The project has created lines of women’s organizations that can help other women in the future
The project gave both the Municipality of Ulcinj and Durres a concrete methodology for trainings.
1395 people were the beneficiaries of the project in Durres and Ulcinj.
The project has helped in improving the situation of gender equality in the two countries, for a better understanding of women’s role in society and their rights
